KS3 Assessment    

Each year pupils will undertake 3 projects.
Year 7 - Natural form, Oriental wall hangings, ceramics fish.
Year 8 - Plant forms, Islamic ceramic tilesm Fruit cross-sections.
Year 9 - Portraits, African masks and artefacts, Insects.

Assessment
All work is marked at the end of each unit and given one of the following grades:
A - Exceeding targets
B - Achieving targets
C - Working towards targets

You are assessed according to the 4 stands of the national curriculum based on your own knowledge, skills and understanding. Your marks are then converted into the National Curriculum Levels.

Level 3 - I can:

  • Show ideas through drawing.
  • Recognize similarities and differences in the work of artists.
  • Make inprovements to my work.
  • Collect information and make final piece

Level 4 - I can:

  • Collect information and use it to develop my work.
  • Use tone, texture, shape, form and pattern.
  • Show ideas through drawings and other materials.
  • Compare my ideas through drawings and other materials.
  • Plan and make a final piece using my own ideas.
 

Level 5 - I can:

  • Collect information from a variety of places.
  • Use a variety of different materials to express my ideas.
  • Compare and contrast my work my work with other artists work.
  • Improve my work as I go along.
  • Make a successful final piece that shows how my ideas have been developed

Level 6 - I can:

  • Collect my own research and use it to develop my ideas.
  • Use materials for different purposes, giving reasons.
  • Communicate my ideas using the formal elements.
  • Explain how artist's work affects the development of my work.
  • Comment on my own and other peoples work.

Level 7 - I can:

  • Select and organise information, using it to develop my work.
  • Explain why i have used certain formal elements in my work.
  • Expand upon my knowledge of materials and processes.
  • Develop my work and final piece inependently.
  • Comment upon the context of my own work and that of others.

Level 8 - I can:

  • Research and present my information in a visually interesting way.
  • Exploit the potential of materials and techniques to develop my work as a result.
  • Evaluate my own work and develop my own work as a result.
  • Articulate similarities and differences between my own and others' work.
  • Develop my research, ideas and final piece independently and produce a successful result.
