GCSE Assessment    

For students coursework and exam they are assessed according to the 4 assessment objectives based on their knowledge, skills and understanding.

The 4 assessment objectives:

1. Record observations, experiences and ideas, select from a range of visual information, and organise and present this information.

How well students record observations, explore ideas, select from a range of visual information, and organise and present this information.

2. Analyse and evaluate images, objects and artefacts showing understanding of context.

How well students analyse and evaluate images, objects and artefacts and show how relevant they are to their studies.

 

3. Develop and explore ideas using media, processes and resources reviewing and refining work as it progresses.

How well students investigate and manipulate materials, review and improve their work as they go along in order to reach the best outcome.

4. Present a personal response, realising intentions an making informed connections with the work of others.

How well students research the work of others and show how their work has influenced their own work in order to enrich it.

Students will be given a mark for each of the assessment objectives:

1 = out of 15
2 = out of 15
3 = out of 15
4 = out of 15
Total = out of 50

Students marks are then converted into a percentageto give them their final GCSE grade. Coursework is worth 60% of their marks and their exam is worth 40%.
